  AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS  
In his career, he won 2 Grand Slam singles titles (French Open & Australian Open) and 4 Grand Slam doubles titles (3 French Opens, 1 US Open). He was the first Russian to win a Grand Slam Singles Title.
 
An aggressive baseliner, Kafelnikov was able to dominate opponents and play on the counter-attack, making him a frightening opponent. His first big success came in 1996 when, at the age of just 22, he captured both the singles and the men's doubles titles at the French Open.
 
Is a former World No. 1 in singles and No. 4 in doubles.
 
Won the Gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
 
Was part of the winning Russian Davis Cup Team in 2002
 
Named ATP Most Improved Player of the Year in 1994 after climbing from No. 104 the previous year to 11.
 
He is the last man to have won both the singles and men's doubles titles at the same Grand Slam tournament (the 1996 French Open).
 
Since retiring, Kafelnikov has had a few impressive finishes at the 2005 World Series of Poker. He also played golf on the European PGA tour at the 2005 and 2008 Russian Open.
 
He joined the ATP Champions Tour in 2008 and is currently No. 7 in the Champions Tour rankings.
