THE HONG KONG TENNIS PATRONS' ASSOCIATION

The Hong Kong Tennis Patrons' Association (TPA) is a community based, non-profit distributing oranization charged with the responsibility of staging professional tennis events. Now in its 31st year, the TPA has staged an annual event through each of the last 30 years.

The TPA is headed up by an Executive Committee, which consists of senior members of the businness community. The Committee meets several times a year to plan the January event, event, where it approves budgets, players, tournament format, marketing, social activities etc. Funding for the tournaments comes from corporate sponsorship and the private sector, with assistance also from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. The TPA appoints sports professional KCE Sport & Entertainment to manage and promote the JB.GROUP Classic 2009.

THE TPA'S OBJECTIVES

• To organize professional tennis tournaments for the enjoyment of the community of Hong Kong.

• To apply tourament surpluses to junior tennis development. To date, approx US$2 million has been donated by the TPA.

• To showcase Hong Kong to an international audience, through news, media and television broadcasts.

• To help maintain the profile and popularity of tennis as a premier sport.
